News from other Channels

I don’t usually reveal my interest in astrology as it’s so open to scepticism, ridicule even. ‘Lucky number 7, you’re going to meet a tall, dark, handsome stranger, etc.’ You know the type of thing.
But I’ve got tired of seeing and hearing the constant stream of  words and images being broadcast in print and on screen by the mass media that describes itself as ‘The News’ that I wanted to provide an alternative way of perceiving ourselves and the wider world.
Feel free to dismiss this quote from astrologer John Wadsworth describing the time that we’re in right now, but I find any people with skills,  knowledge and experience that I don’t possess worthy of note, especially, of course, when they resonate with my perception of life!

A breath of fresh air
And, again, when I think about so many extraordinary people and events that exist around the world passed over in normal circumstances, in favour of information which is highly selected, edited & called ‘news’, what follows feels like a breath of fresh air. And at this most strange time, I think a breath of fresh air at least, is what we can all do with.

John’s quote:
‘I think it’s fair to say that the Saturnian restrictions placed upon our freedom of movement and freedom of expression are having disturbing psychological consequences, both collectively and (to a greater or lesser extent) personally. Uncomfortable issues that we might ordinarily be able to dodge or distract ourselves from are rising up from the deep well of emotional memory and demanding our attention. This is the Pluto effect. Pluto is the archetype of power; a power that dwells in the dark recesses of the soul, feeding off our deepest fears and unconscious desires. It will take us unawares, grab hold of us, shake us to the core until its truth is realised.

In astrological shorthand, this year has so far brought us a Neptune in Pisces pandemic, a Saturn in Capricorn lockdown, Saturn in Aquarius social distancing, and a Uranus in Taurus breakdown in our economy and economic life. And under the shadow of this year’s Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, it is that which has been neglected, abused, distorted, manipulated and subjugated which is really now forcing itself to the forefront of our awareness.’

It’s all interpretation anyway, isn’t it?
Well now, who’s to say that this interpretation of current events is no more valid than what appears on our TV screens incessantly? Not me. And what makes an expert anyway? A white coat and a clip board? A suit and a pleasant public manner? The fact that they are given air time by the ‘news’ channels?
I’d like to make up my own mind, whilst doing my best to keep it open. What about you?
